How to Choose Your T-Shirt Size

Picking a t-shirt size is about more than one number — fit style and fabric matter just as much as your chest measurement.

Start with chest measurement

Your chest circumference is the anchor number. Most size charts (including ours) map a range of chest measurements to each letter size.

Then decide on fit

The same chest measurement can point to different sizes depending on the look you want:

Account for fabric

100% cotton tees can shrink 3-5% after the first few washes unless pre-shrunk — if you're between sizes and the fabric is unwashed cotton, sizing up slightly is often safer than sizing down.

When brand charts disagree with ours

Always defer to the specific brand's own chart when available — our calculator is a strong general-purpose starting point, not a brand-specific guarantee.
